Our Team
At Kilmaha, we focus on delivering quality results with a commitment to environmental stewardship and client satisfaction. Our team's diverse experience enables us to tackle projects of all sizes and complexities, ensuring the health and productivity of woodlands for generations to come.
Nick has forestry in the blood. Following a long line of Adams’ to have worked in the woods, he started his career working for his father, Phil, learning all those vital skills that are traditionally passed down through the generations; hard work and a deep appreciation of woodlands and what they give us. This education, learned in the idyllic setting of the Forest of Dean, was the perfect start in a career that has so far spanned 25 years and taken him from Gloucestershire to Scotland and back again.
After leaving Hartpury College in 2000, Nick joined the family business as a forest craftsman operating a range of equipment from chainsaws and brushcutters to forwarders, in a wide variety of silvicultural and harvesting operations. In 2006 Phil retired and Nick set up as a sole trader providing forestry services to a range of clients. In 2013 Nick had the opportunity to move to Argyll on the west coast of Scotland to take up a role as a Standing Sales Harvesting Supervisor and in 2016 returned to Gloucestershire to establish Kilmaha with Mark.
Nick is also a director of the Forestry Contracting Association (FCA) representing members across the UK with a particular focus on establishment and training/skills issues.
After leaving technical college in 2001, Mark began his extensive career as an operator working for a business in the grounds maintenance sector, building his skill set on a variety of projects. He soon progressed to managing the company’s portfolio of sites delivering grounds maintenance and landscaping services to clients throughout the South-West, South Wales and the Midlands. In 2016, Mark co-founded Kilmaha where he heads the grounds maintenance and landscaping team.
Mark leads Kilmaha’s training program, developing skills for our in-house contracting teams. Alongside this, he instructs short courses in chainsaw operation at Home Lacy college and is developing Kilmaha’s training services.
George initially joined Kilmaha in December 2022 as a part time member of our in-house contracting team. During a busy planting season, he showed an aptitude and passion for the work and became a full-time team member in September 2023 as a forest operator, honing the silvicultural skills vital to good forest management.
It very quickly became apparent that George’s passion is allied to a talent for forest management, and he now plays an integral role in delivering our woodland creation and forest management projects for a range of clients. In September 2024 George enrolled on the Professional Foresters Degree Apprenticeship at Cumbria University and is working his way to ICF accreditation.
Ali Griffiths
Forest & Landscape Team Leader
Although a qualified plumber, Ali decided an outdoor career was what he really wanted to do and applied for a job with Kilmaha, starting as a forestry operator in January 2022. He very quickly adapted to a new career and his enthusiasm and willingness to learn saw him complete a range of operator qualifications and by January 2023 Ali made the step up to Team Leader.
Robin Beamish
Forest & Landscape Operator
Robin has always had an active interest in the outdoors and an ambition to work outside. Before joining Kilmaha in April 2022, Robin volunteered for a variety of wildlife trusts around the Cotswolds and gained chainsaw and brushcutter qualifications during this time. With a strong work ethic, Robin is an integral member of the team who can turn his hand to any task.
Alfie Rowlands
Apprentice Forest & Landscape Operator
Alfie has always enjoyed the outdoors and after leaving school on the completion of GCSE’s in the summer of 2023, he joined Kilmaha as an Apprentice Forest Operator in September 2023. Enrolled on the Level 3 Forest Craftsperson Apprenticeship at Holme Lacy college in Hereford, Alfie has shown a natural ability for forest work and is quickly becoming a valuable member of the team.
